Maria joined IZA as a Research Associate in 2019, after finishing her PhD from the University of Oxford. Her research is about search and matching, local labour markets, and internal migration. It is motivated by trying to understand to what extent are people's outcomes the product of local and labour market constraints and opportunities.

In June 2024, she joined the Bank of England as a research economist. She remains part of the IZA network as a Research Fellow and keeps close ties with the IZA research team as an Associated Member.
