Olaf Hübler is professor emeritus of econometrics at the Institute for Empirical Economics at the Leibniz University of Hannover since 1982. He studied economics at the Free University of Berlin where he received his diploma in 1970. He received his Ph.D. in 1974 at the Technical University of Berlin, and his post-doctoral degree (Habilitation) in economics and statistics in 1978.

From 1979 to 1980 he was Senior Research Fellow at the International Institute of Management in Berlin.

His current research interests include applied econometrics and labour economics with special interest in microeconometrics, panel data methods in nonlinear models, wages, profit sharing and other incentives, gender wage gaps mobility, working time and evaluation of social programmes and in-plant alliances.

Among others Olaf Hübler has published papers in numerous national and international refereed journals and is author of the textbooks "Ökonometrie" and "Einführung in die empirische Wirtschaftsforschung".

He is member of the Econometric Society, the American and European Economic Association, the Verein für Socialpolitik, Ausschuss für Ökonometrie, the Deutsche Statistische Gesellschaft and he was Associate Editor of the Journal of the German Statistical Society until 2015.

Olaf Hübler joined IZA as a Research Fellow in October 1999.
