Jeffrey Grogger

Jeffrey Grogger received his Ph.D. in Economics in 1987 from the University of California, San Diego. He is currently Irving B. Harris Professor of Urban Policy at the Harris School, University of Chicago. Previously he was a Professor of Public Policy at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has focused in the past on problems of the low-income population and such topics as the effects of early childbearing, the links between crime and the labor market, and the economics of education. His current work focuses on the effects of transfer programs, health insurance, and racial inequality. Professor Grogger is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (Cambridge, MA) and was formerly the chair of the NLS Technical Review Committee.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in October 1999.
