Alberto Ciancio is a Lecturer (assistant professor) in Economics at the Adam Smith Business School of the University of Glasgow. He received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2017.

His research interests include development, health and political economics. One area of his research focuses on health issues in developing countries. Using data from Sub-Saharan Africa, he has investigated how health information affects risky behaviors, treatment and survival. Another area of his research focuses on various topics in political economics including decentralization, voting and the role of traditional leaders in developing countries.
