Pierre Cahuc is professor of Economics at Sciences Po, and research fellow at CEPR. He was member of the French Economic Advisory Council to the French Prime Minister (Conseil d'Analyse Economique) from 2006 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2016.

Unemployment and macroeconomics with a special concern for labor markets are his main fields of research. His papers are published in the American Economic Review, Econometrica, the Quarterly Journal or Economics, the Review of Economic Studies , the International Economic Review, the Economic Journal, the European Economic Review, the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, the Journal of Public Economics, the Journal of Labor Economics and other journals. He has co-authored with Stéphane Carcillo and André Zylberberg a widely used graduate textbook, Labor Economics, published by MIT Press in 2014.

Pierre Cahuc joined the IZA network as a Research Fellow in October 1999a and collaborates closely with IZA's local team as an Associated Member. From 2004-2023 he served as IZA Program Director for the network resesarch area "Labor Market Institutions". From 2012-223 he also acted as editor of the IZA Journal of Labor Economics and of IZA World of Labor since 2014. Since 2023 Pierre Cahuc serves as Editor-in-chief of IZA World of Labor.
