Bilge Erten is an Assistant Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Northeastern University. Her primary research interests are in gender inequality, economic development, and international economics, with a particular focus on empirical research. Most of her work can be organized under two themes: (i) the causes and consequences of domestic violence and its transmission across generations, and (ii) the impact of globalization on structural transformation and labor market inequality in developing countries. She published in journals such as the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Economic Literature, Journal of International Economics, World Development, Feminist Economics, and Economics of Education Review. She is an Associate Editor of Feminist Economics, and a member of the Gender and Development Initiative at Northeastern.

Bilge Erten joined IZA as an IZA Fellow in October 2019.
