Mathias Huebener

Mathias Huebener is a Senior Researcher at the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) and head of the research group "Education and Human Potential". His major research interests are in the fields of economics of education, family and health economics, policy evaluations and the intergenerational transmission of socio-economic status.

Mathias completed his PhD in Economics in 2018 at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, in cooperation with DIW Berlin's Graduate Center. Previously, he studied Economics at the University of Essex, and earned his Master's degree at University College London.

Mathias' current research focuses on the role of public policies in the formation of human capital, including individuals' education, health and labor market outcomes.

He became a Reseach Affiliate in July 2018 and became a Research Fellow in December 2023.
