Ana Tur-Prats

Ana Tur-Prats is Assistant Professor of Economics at UC Merced. Her research spans topics in political economy, culture and institutions, gender economics, and economic history. Some of her recent work examines the cultural norms and systems that sustain violence against women. Other recent work focuses on the formation and persistence of social capital, and on the long-term effects of conflict. Her work has appeared in the Quarterly Journal of Economics and in the Review of Economics and Statistics. Prior to joining UC Merced she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. She obtained a BA in Law and a BA in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain), and a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona.
