Joseph J. Sabia

Joseph J. Sabia is Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Health Economics & Policy Studies (CHEPS) at San Diego State University.

His research interests are in the economics of risky behaviors, the economics of national defense, and minimum wage policy. His research has appeared in such journals as the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Law and Economics, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, the Journal of Human Resources, the Journal of Population Economics, the Journal of Health Economics, American Economic Review (Papers & Proceedings), and the Journal of Policy Analysis & Management.

He received a PhD in Economics from Cornell University and has held prior academic appointments at the University of Georgia, American University, the United States Military Academy-West Point, and the University of New Hampshire.

Joseph joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2015.
