Pietro Garibaldi

Collegio Carlo Alberto

Pietro Garibaldi is currently Professor of Economics at the University of Torino, and Director and Fellow of the Collegio Carlo Alberto. He is also head of Labor Studies at Fondazione Debenedetti, and research fellow of CEPR (London), IZA (Bonn), and IGIER (Milan). He is a supervisory board and audit committee member of Intesa SanPaolo. He is one of the founding and current editors of www.lavoce.info

Between 2004 and 2005 he was the Economic Counselor of the Italian Ministry of Finance. He was previously an economist in the IMF Research Department and an associate professor of Economics at Universita' Bocconi (Milan). He holds a Phd in Economics from the London School of Economics.

His main research interests are in the macroeconomics of the labor market, with particular emphasis on labor force participation and the role of institutions. His main publications are in the Economic Journal, Economic Policy, European Economic Review, Journal of the European Economic Association, Review of Economic Dynamics, and Review of Economic Studies. He is also author and editor of books published by Oxford University Press.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in June 2002.
