Research Interests

Peter Eibich is a Professor of Economics at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL. Previously, he was Deputy Head of the Research Group on Labor Demography at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock, Germany (2017-2022), and Senior Researcher in Health Economics at the Health Economics Research Centre at the University of Oxford (2015-2017). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Hamburg, Germany.
His primary research field is the economics of aging and retirement. He examines social and economic determinants of health and health behavior in old age with a particular focus on the transition from work to retirement, and its consequences for older adults behavior.

He is also strongly interested in the economics of preventive care. In his work, Peter Eibich aims to better understand individuals’ decisions to use (or not use) preventive care, such as breast cancer screening or HPV vaccination. He also has a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and has collaborated with researchers in, e.g., medicine, psychology, demography or sociology.

Peter Eibich joined the IZA network as a Research Affiliate in 2024.
