Todd Pugatch is an Associate Professor of Economics at University at Buffalo and a Research Fellow at IZA. His research focuses on understanding the drivers of disparate outcomes in education and rigorously evaluating approaches to improve them. He earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan. He has conducted experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations of teacher salary increases, elimination of school fees, and the expansion of early childhood education in The Gambia; teacher training to implement curricular reform in Rwanda; and interventions designed to increase diversity and promote student success in US higher education. His work has been published in Journal of Development Economics, World Bank Economic Review, Journal of Human Resources, Economics of Education Review, Economic Development and Cultural Change, and elsewhere.
