Jed DeVaro is The Wang Family Professor in the College of Business and Economics at California State University, East Bay (CSUEB), where he holds joint appointments in the Departments of Economics and Management. His research is on the economics of human resources management, particularly compensation, incentives, and careers. His current projects examine pay transparency regulations, work schedules, productivity in teams of knowledge workers, executive compensation and firm performance, and career mobility. Professor DeVaro’s academic publications span economics, finance, strategy, organizational behavior, human resources management, and political science. He authored a textbook entitled Strategic Compensation and Talent Management: Lessons for Managers (Cambridge University Press, 2020). He is on the editorial boards of several journals, an editor at the IZA World of Labor journal, a research fellow at Cornell University’s Institute for Compensation Studies, and a senior research fellow at Finland’s ETLA Economic Research. Prior to joining CSUEB in 2008, Professor DeVaro was an assistant professor in the Department of Labor Economics at Cornell University’s ILR School. His economics degrees are from Stanford University (PhD, MA) and Swarthmore College (BA).
