Peng Nie is now Professor in Economics at the Xi'an Jiaotong University in Xi'an, China. He is also Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Health Care & Public Management, University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart (Germany), and Research Fellow at Global Labor Organization (GLO). He obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Hohenheim in August 2015. His research interests focus on issues related to labor economics, health economics and development economics. Recently he has begun to perform research in the economics of health inequality such as income-related health inequality, housing and health inequality, as well as inequality of opportunity in health in China. He has published in the international journals such as Nature, The Lancet, Nature Medicine, Review of Income and Wealth, Energy Economics, Kyklos, Economics & Human Biology, China Economic Review, Land Use Policy, Electronic Commerce Research, Social Indicators Research, Population Health Metrics, BMC Geriatrics, Obesity Reviews, Obesity, Child Indicators Research and International Journal of Equity for Health. He is a member of International Health Economics Association (Member of the Scientific Committee Review Panel), Health Econometrics and Data Group (HEDG, University of York, UK), The Chinese Economists Society, Youth Committee of China Health Economics Association (Committee Member). He is now an Associate Editor of The Journal of the Economics of Ageing (Elsevier), and Editorial Board Member of BMC Public Health (Springer Nature), BMC Geriatrics (Springer Nature) and Labor History (Taylor & Francis Online).

Peng Nie joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in October 2019.
