Erno Mähönen erlangte im Dezember 2013 einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Gesellschaftspolitik an der Universität Jyväskylä, Finnland. Anschließend studierte er Volkswirtschaftslehre als Austauschstudent an der Universität Bonn. Zurzeit absolviert er ein Masterstudium in Wirtschaftslehre und Gesellschaftspolitik.
Erno Mähönen war von Oktober 2014 bis Februar 2015 im Rahmen des IZA-Projekts "European labor policies" als Praktikant tätig.
