Adrian Nieto Castro

Adrian Nieto is an Assistant Professor and Browaldh scholar at the Department of Economics at Lund University, and a Research Affiliate at IZA. Previously, he was a Visiting Research Fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE) and at the University of California - Santa Barbara, as well as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER). Adrian obtained his Ph.D. in Economics by the end of 2019 at the University of Nottingham, where he is still a Research Affiliate. During his Ph.D., he visited the Research Department of the Bank of Spain during 2016-2017. Prior to his Ph.D. studies, he obtained a M.Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics.


His main research interests lie in labor economics, with particular emphasis on how new technologies impact the labor market and society, gender inequality, and understanding the link between the environment and the labor market. His research has been published in the Economic Journal, the Journal of Human Resources, the Journal of Health Economics, the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, and Labour Economics.

He became an IZA Research Affiliate in May 2023.
