Ceren Ozgen

Ceren Ozgen is an associate professor at the Department of Economics, University of Birmingham, UK. She received her PhD degree from the Department of Spatial Economics, VU University Amsterdam. Her PhD thesis is entitled ‘Impacts of Immigration and Cultural Diversity on Innovation and Economic Growth’ and utilizes rich micro-data sets and administrative data from Netherlands/Europe for a wide range of econometric modelling applications. She has written extensively on the labor market impacts of international migration, cultural diversity and firm innovation. Her research interests include labor and urban economics, international migration, innovation, applied microeconomics and urban theory. In 2011 she has been a visiting researcher at University of Waikato, National Institute of Demographic and Economic Analysis (New Zealand). She has worked as a researcher in various international projects financed by the World Bank, European Commission, the US National Science Foundation, OECD and the Institute for International Urban Development. In line with the Marie-Sklodowska Curie Individual Grant of the European Commission she was awarded in 2016 her recent research focuses on technological change, skills mismatch and labour market impacts of automation. She is a member of the Dutch Regional Science Association, European Regional Science Association (ERSA), and Tinbergen Institute Alumni.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in August 2014.
